The Town Ham has long been popular as viewpoint for artists - across the floodplain to the Cathedral sitting above the city:

The floodplain and 'Pool Meadow' have often lived up to their names:

so in 1910 they decided to fill in the marsh on the right of the picture with rubbish to make allotments above the flood waters
